ESL have released the group listings for the IEM European Championship Finals QuakeLive event set to begin on Thursday the 21st of January. The event will see elite level players like Anton 'Cooller' Singov, Alexei 'Cypher' Yanushevsky and Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski battling underdogs like Dan 'zsx' Sanders and Benjamin 'calipt' Jakob for spots in the Global Finals. Waiting for the European hopefuls in those Global Finals are rapha, DaHang and VoO so far.

The action will be viewable from 14:00 CET on Thursday via ESL TV's stream.

Group A:

Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski
Sebastian 'Spart1e' Siira
Benjamin 'calipt' Jakob
Gareth 'GaRpY' Marshall

Group B:

Marcel 'k1llsen' Paul
Alexei 'Cypher' Yanushevsky
Pierre-E 'l1nkje' Portier
Dan 'zsx' Sanders

Group C:

Alexander 'Z4muZ' Ihrfors
Kevin 'Strenx' Baeza
Anton 'Cooller' Singov
Jeffrey 'draven' Debipersad

Group D:

Magnus 'fox' Olsson
Richard 'noctis' Gansterer
Alessandro 'stermy' Avallone
Romain 'Dem0n' Leclercq

Group D certainly comes out looking like the 'group of death' at this stage. fox, noctis and stermy could all reasonably have had a shot at top 4 in other groups. dem0n in that group is replacing Guard.
