Former SK Gaming DotA player, Jonathan 'Loda' Berg, has joined up with five other players to become the first Heroes of Newerth team for ButtonBashers. The new HoN team is comprised of one American and six Swedes, including recent Fnatic player Jonathan 'Loda' Berg. This marks the first team recruited by ButtonBashers and one of the first Heroes of Newerth teams recruited on a professional level. The team existed for about a month previously as "Team Smackdown", during which time Loda has been playing for Online Kingdom Nirvana.int while still contracted with fnatic .
The team will be playing in the HoN League: Check-Six Sidewinder Tournament with the best teams from Europe and the United States. Their first match as a team will be on Wednesday, January 13th.
The team will begin playing LANs in Europe, the first of which is the April Multiplay iSeries 39. The prize money is expected to be either £1,000 with 48 teams, or £5,000 for a possible 96 teams.

"I've been in contact with Michael for a while now and I've always spoken to him about the eSports scene and the gaming world, no matter what it was. When my team fused together and started playing seriously we wanted to take it to another level and push ourselves to be one of the best, and that was at ButtonBashers. We feel like family here and more than accepted, we greatly appreciate the opportunity and you can look out for us in the upcoming eSports world. Look out Keyboard Smashers, I'm a Button Basher!"
In a statement from ButtonBashers Manager Elsemiek "Els" Jager:
"Josh "Blastbark" Lee have been in contact with Michael ‘Pii’ Groen, our General Manager and Founder for quite some time. The team seemed really eager and wilful to join up with ButtonBashers. After monitoring the game for a while and having some chat sessions with Josh we felt it would be a great step forward for us to pick up this potential team. The game seems to be going big and than ButtonBashers can’t stay behind. We are looking forward to work closely with this team and we believe for a full 100% in their abilities. Keep your eyes open as we have a new hot spot coming up!"

It's like CSS, cool effects and graphics, but they tend to be annoying as the clean look is missing. In teamfights it's almost impossible to realise what is going on. Everything is too dark. I hope HoN succeeds and can revive the DOTA genre, but in the meantime I'll be sticking to DOTA since I have way more fun there.
Let's hope Blizzard makes Warcraft4 soon so we can have the right DOTA 2.0 and not some rip-off :).
(I still think it's lame to just COPY a game on another engine and ask money for it, at least LoL came up with original ideas).
Anyhow, good luck Loda and let's hope HoN can become an eSports title :).
well, its ok for me on 5v5 fight, even on those who finish in 5 seconds..
come back to dota xD
Strategy games and reflex games shouldn't have all those flashy effects because the more eye candy the more tiresome and distracted you get. The more distracted the less you can concentrate the less epic things that will happen. Our brain can only interpretate so much information through the locus cereleus and other focus areas of the brain so the more graphics they add the more people will start filtering the input they're getting the more things get overlooked. Yes, this probably can be overcome with days of gameplay, but I'm pretty sure spectators won't have a clue unless they play the game theirselves.
There's a reason why professional games have less eye-candy and have their focus on gameplay. Yes, CS & WC3 & SC all had "crazy graphics" back in the day, but that doesn't change the fact that they were clean and simple. KISS (Keep It Stupid Simple) applies for eSports too.
leever should be leaver, my bad!
I'm pretty sure the next dota made by icefrog on the SC2 engine will please all the graphic fanboys AND still have that clean look I am talking about.
P.S try HoN before giving me minuses
They just don't have the experience in here. I also dislike the fact, that kinda each update is made after a DotA update :/ They copy too much. They should faster rely on own thoughts and not starting to make a 1:1 DotA copy. They have allready unique heroes and most of them are based on nice ideas but it see too much DotA in that game....
New patches come in, gameplay changes. This game has potential.
But who's the big guy from Sk.DOTA who rides his own van from his father??? That guys was the shizniz man
good move loda.
Dota is 5 or more years old and everytime a new hero comes it takes months to balance its abilities..
I've played Hon for some months now and in my opinion HoN > Dota
DotA in eSport scene in Europe/USA last year wasn't really good imo, but in Asia it have been takeoff last year, dunno if HoN is any known there. Have seen some new Chinese copy of DotA, but don't think it will be any popular outside China. Waiting for IceFrog's Valve version of DotA! :]
But all those things don't take away the fact that it's a poor "dota 2.0" that was bound to have all those features. I guess I'm the only one who hates the engine (and the annoying music - ye, you can turn it off but it's still there). When StarCraft2 comes out there will be DOTA mods as well, and I'm pretty sure Icefrog will be making one too so I prefer waiting for the real DOTA 2.0 made by the hands of someone who've worked on DOTA 24/7 for years on the engines that I love the most. I can't believe people are just settling for that HoN engine. Check out some starcraft2 pictures and you'll know what I mean with a clean look and that's the engine I want for DOTA 2.0 not some already aged dark engine.
HoN is on beta for the moment don't be so rude with them really ...
They add some nice things like connect, reconnect you said , the web page for replay , the ladder , the Stats for all account and a lot of other things ,who is just amazing....
Did you play at the first version of DoTa ... ? HoN is on Beta for the moment you can't compare a game who is out for 5 years now and a game who is on beta ....
