MLG: fnatic, Power and LLL all out

ImagePower Gaming again place top 20, fnatic finish top 24 and LowLandLions crash out early and finish top 40.

Despite many predicting LowLandLions to hit the championship bracket the team were quickly eliminated from the tournament on day two. Having eased through the first four open bracket rounds, the wrath of the fifth round stopped them in their tracks. Dropping down into the lower bracket as a result, their do-or-die match versus Perfect Evolution couldn't have been closer - losing 50-48 on The Pit team slayer and 3-1 on Narrows capture the flag, thus signalling the end of their tournament run.

fnatic bowed out in LBR3 to finish top 24 after losing to an in form Surprise team. fnatic were the only side to take a map from the Americans at that point in the competition but it wasn't enough to deter the European conquerers as they toppled fnatic 3-1. For a first event fnatic can take away just as much as Power Gaming did in Anaheim; entering with no seed and making the championship bracket is in the best intentions of all unseeded teams.

Power Gaming mirrored their Anaheim campaign: they fell to the lower bracket, won a string of matches and then lost out on top 16 at the final hurdle. Taking results of the decisive final game from their Twitter page shown that two of the three games they lost were by a single flag capture and a single kill. Critically though, the event affirmed Power's consistency after some claimed their previous placing of 19th was a fluke. If anything, Power's Orlando run surpasses that of Anaheim's.

Together the three teams have successfully raised the presence of European Halo overseas, a reward both the players and the community will be happy to receive.

With no information revealed on the next MLG season, besides the introduction of scarcely-detailed combines, 2010 may be the most important year for European Halo after the dramatic ending to 2009.
