Image722 teams have become 2 as the European finalists for the Gamebattles GameStop tournament are confirmed.

The Gamebattles GameStop Modern Warfare 2 tournament is the biggest and first tournament for the new title carrying a first place prize of $10,000. The structure is to whittle down European and North American teams until four remain (two from each continent) and fly them to an offline event in the USA where the best of each continent will then play each other. While the North American tournament isn't over, the European competition has concluded.

TCM-Gaming 3-2 Imperial eSports

One of Team CoolerMaster's two teams was expected to make the European finals and indeed one has, but it wasn't an easy ride. After quickly going 2-0 up, winning the demolition and search and destroy modes, The Imperial staged a comeback which saw a stunning 6-5 capture the flag game go their way followed by a tense 4-3 search and destroy game.

All of a sudden the scores were at two games apiece, and the final game ended with Team CoolerMaster pulling all their previous tournament experience together to take the match and a free trip to the USA with spending money.

Power Gaming 3-2 Team eMpathy

Team eMpathy surprised the entire community by making it to the European semi finals, and despite some entertaining performances from VirreX, fell short in another five-game thriller.

The match went back and forth throughout, with highlights including a solid showing in capture the flag from eMpathy and a superb 1 vs 2 clutch in the search and destroy from Validus' ShAnE, only to see Validus stomp through the final game.

The finals take place on or before February 28th 2010.

Other favourites including SK Gaming bowed out to semi finalists eMpathy while the second TCM-Gaming OLD line-up lost out to semi final winners, Validus.
