TyLoo shock MYM with monster upset

ImageTyLoo upset MYM in their WEM opener in outstanding fashion as the Swedes were completely unable to get into the game in a serious manner till too late.

The Meet Your Makers swe which finished 2nd at IEM IV Dubai and 1st at DreamHack Winter would have been expected to roll through this admittedly solid TyLoo team. In fact the MYM who showed up seemed more reminiscent of the one from Arbalet Cup Europe. The Chinese side overcame the initial lead from the Swedes and never looked back as they put up an enormous CT half and then at a similar time in the second half took control again to take the victory quickly.

Meet Your Makers swe 12:18 TyLoo (train 4:11 8:7)

First half

MYM got the early lead winning the pistol round and the two eco rounds. Even so tb's kills from the tower on one of the eco rounds proved to be a sign of things to come as the Chinese team showed aggression and aim at the right times as CT to take complete control. After running up three in a row to tie the score at 3:3 TyLoo relinquished the lead back to MYM as Jumpy won a 1v1 by killing the defusing Chinese player. Any hopes that that would spark the Swedes proved in vain though as the Chinese team took the 10th round, behind two kills from their leader alex, and from there on out it was all TyLoo.

Winning every round until the end of the half, to hit 11 round wins as CT, TyLoo's inside defense was rock solid and their outside defense seemed to eat up the alley when MYM players tried their luck there. MYM couldn't even get one of their ecos into a situation where it might possibly turn into a surprise round win, every eco round had them being mowed down by a TyLoo player much to the delight of the roaring crowd.

Second half

In the second half MYM again took the pistol round and eco but in the 3rd TyLoo took their 12th round win overall. This came thanks to two kills from Karl and a glock kill from alex onto zet. In the 4th round MYM took back a round thanks to two kills from Pita at outside early which then became three as he killed the last. That was it again though for MYM, once more what had looked like them getting back into the game became a momentary rest before a storm of Chinese round wins.

Jumpy was in a 1v2 against tb and Goodrifle but the latter got the round win for the Chinese team. TyLoo's offensive formula was to hit inside over and over and it certainly worked as MYM were unable to lock down that site in the same way as the Chinese side had earlier. As soon as the 16 round wins were hit for TyLoo MYM seemed to come out of their haze and start playing more like the MYM most would have expected to have shown up in the first 23 rounds, Delpan's AWP hitting and Pita playing aggressively with his spraying style.

How much should be put down to TyLoo playing up to the moment and how much was MYM underperforming or mentally falling apart remains to be discerned. It's worth noting that most of the MYM players have never been to an event in China before and so all kinds of factors come into play such as being uncomfortable in a different setup and jetlag.
