The 14th to the 17th are the first relevant dates and 12 Counter-Strike teams and eight World of WarCraft teams will attend the first part of the finals. Then, a week later, 16 Quake Live players will meet to battle for their respective crown at the ESL TV studios.
There are a total of 17 World Championship Final slots available for the teams/players from Europe, making placing highly important for more than merely financial reasons. These slots break down into the top six CS teams, top six QL duelers and top 5 WoW teams. Neither event is open to the public but rather they will be covered via ESL TV.
Interestingly this will pose problems for mTw.int as it was previously reported that their star AWPer Sunde's vacation would not see him returning home until January 21st. This would mean unless circumstances change he will miss the IEM IV European Championship Finals, a blow for a team hoping to be back on a level to repeat as champions of that tournament.
