It seems as if the web portals of professional gaming sites are under attack from Swedish hackers, with Fnatic and MYM being consecutive targets.Several months ago, the highly-popularized news syndicate Fragbite.com found itself prey to hackers who materialized false news and replaced the pictures with distasteful homo-erotic pornographic imagery. Although there is no plausible way to properly identify the whereabouts of the Swedish hackers involved with the incident with Fragbite, the similarity between the trends months ago and what happened today indicates the same individuals. The incidents that are being discussed refer to the damaging hack on Fnatic.com and the fully-repaired one against myMYM.com.
Come 3:00 AM GMT, two distasteful hackers used the account of former Fnatic Call of Duty player Daniel 'tidde' Asp and began destroying the Fnatic website. All the pictures displayed were replaced with the image of a homosexual man with his legs spread. Additional articles were created to "announce" the formation of new Fnatic Counter-Strike squads to help bolster their existing ranks. Also, a good amount of jokes about Kristoffer 'Tentpole' Nordlund and Björn 'threat' Pers's names were used to amuse whoever was awake at that time. By 6:00 AM, Fnatic's managing director Sam "SAM - zr0" Matthews had alerted the web developers and players to solve the issue. After hours of work, the staff successfully restored most of the website and dealt with Tidde's account.
Approximately thirteen hours following the incident on Fnatic's website, the same Swedish duo attacked the official Meet Your Makers website. One of MYM's Counter-Strike players, Faruk 'pita' Pita, along with managing director Kayenne found their accounts hacked with "ANKFEST" posters replacing the front page images. Occuring almost immediately after Kai 'H4nn1-' Hanibückers's announced return with a large portion of its staff present, MYM was easily able to divert the attack and retain all their saved information.
Fnatic obviously received more blunt damage with losing a portion of their saved archive. In their official post, Fnatic expressed their distaste for such an attack and by their estimation, Tidde either disclosed his personal administrative information or more likely, he received a virus. MYM, however, simply stated they were thankful for acting so quickly and that the perpetrators obviously only care about harming the eSports community with no constructive motive.
Meanwhile, SK will most definitely be acting cautious about this matter. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable and not only is very disrespectful, but illegal. The origin of this hacking is likely rooted to emails from so-called "desperate women" who became "attracted" to individuals' profiles and want to know them better. As it so happens, about every member of SK Gaming, being staff or player, have received these emails with identical writing and intentions drawn out. Sources at myMYM have indicated similar emails targeting their affiliation as well. There have even been spam accounts created asking for an intimate relationship with members of SK.
If there appears to be an unusual feature on the official website, do not hesitate to contact management to address the issue.
