After what had the makings of a major upset in the upper bracket final for Evil Geniuses against SK fell apart into a bitter overtime loss the Americans found themselves playing for another shot at the Swedes in the lower bracket. The map was the same as their SK game, dust2, but they were facing the Danes of mTw who they had dropped to the lower bracket in their first game. This time the mTw.dk that showed up was more reminiscent of the one who trampled EG's fellow Americans in coL on dust2 at DreamHack. mTw.dk were in the driving seat the whole way and it proved to be a short trip for EG who finish 3rd overall at the Arbalet Cup Europe.

First half

Three kills from zonic secured the pistol round for the Danes and they won the second, despite EG having AKs, thanks to three from stand-in ArcadioN. Facing a 3:0 deficit EG took the 4th thanks to two kills from lurppis and a successful A push. The 5th had mTw.dk win from a semi-buy where they had famas, colt and deagle on display. Four EG players fell at the catwalk area and the round went to mTw.dk, 4:1. On the 7th round trace was left 1v2 with an AK outside of B with the bomb planted inside but decided not to go for it, rather killing fRoD who tried to exit via tunnels and then saving his gun. When minet and ave saved their guns the next round after another EG B push the score read 5:3 in the Dane's favour.

Any hopes EG had of keeping it close then disappeared as mTw.dk put together a monster run. The 9th had two kills from Arcadion and trace. EG attempted to mainly hit bombsite A but their attacks failed over and over. New recruit gfn was struggling on 2-14 by the 14th round was reached. In the 13th ArcadioN was 1v1 against fRoD but killed him and defused, as well as picking up his AWP. The 14th saw zonic killing the last two EG players to put his team up an intimidating 11:3. EG took the last round to make it 11:4 to mTw but headed into the second half knowing they had all their work ahead of them.


Second half

EG decided to rush middle on the pistol round and three of them were killed right off the bat and mTw.dk took the round in the B bombsite. EG bought deagles in the 2nd and managed to get the round 2v2 when the bomb went down for EG, thanks to two lurppis kills, but the Danes took another round to go up 13:4. On the 4th round a 2v2 when the bomb went down in B saw trace AWPing both EG players to take the round and reach match point for his team.

EG staved off elimination despite having a mixture of one colt, some famases and a deagle as n0thing killed two with a famas, picked up an AK and then killed two more. Still when mTw.dk got the bomb down in a 5v2 advantage at A there will little hope for the Americans. lurppis ended up 1v4 and despite killing two couldn't hope to kill both due to their positioning and the game went to mTw.dk.

mTw.dk head to the final knowing they will either pick up their second 2nd place with a stand-in, not a bad result by any means, or win their first tournament in about 9 months. The finals will see them play SK and need two maps wins, as opposed to the one SK need, to snatch the crown.
