All-Star: A over B, D over C

By Duncan 'Thorin' Shields

ImageNeo and co proved too much for the Swedish All-Stars. Meanwhile the American-Korean-Spaniard mix lost narrowly in double overtime only to go out in two maps straight.

The All-Star tournament lived up to its name as fans got a chance to see how teams filled with top level players would perform against one another in a less rigid structure than a normal team match.

Team C
Johan 'face' Klasson
Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund
Dennis 'walle' Wallenberg
Andreas 'moddii' Fridh
Marcus 'Delpan' Larsson

vs.

Team D
Manuel 'approx' Zeitz
Wiktor 'TaZ' Wojtas
Filip 'NEO' Kubski
Danny 'zonic' Sørensen
Martin Alexander 'trace' Bang Heldt

Arbalet AllStar Teams C 16:07 Arbalet AllStar Teams D (nuke 9:6 7:1)
Arbalet AllStar Teams C 12:16 Arbalet AllStar Teams D (inferno 7:8 5:8)
Arbalet AllStar Teams C 10:16 Arbalet AllStar Teams D (train 3:12 7:4)

With GeT_RiGhT being added late to C and approx taking roman's spot in D some felt like the Swedish team would be too much to handle with their communication advantage and their lineup of talent. In the first map the fnatic man managed to put up some good numbers and his team cruised to a solid victory, despite giving up six rounds as CT.

The next two maps saw some of the non-Swedish All-Stars playing like All-Stars though. zonic did his thing on inferno to even the series up, then his team-mate trace took over on train and that CT half proved too much for the Swedes as the series went to the German-Danish-Polish mix.

Team A
Sergey 'starix' Ishchuk

Team B

Danny 'fRoD' Montaner
Min-Soo 'glow' Kim

First half

Playing under the name KSU (Korea Spain USA) team B looked impressive early on. After winning the pistol and second round they gave up the third thanks to two kills each from dosia and hooch but then ran the score up to 7:1. In the 4th round fRoD contributed four kills. In the 5th n0thing got two kills and solo three. In the 8th n0thing again put in two and glow added two from a tricky position as he hid in the standard pushed up position against the radio room, then allowed one enemy to fully walk out without killing him so as to get a shot onto the next also.

Team A who were going under the name of CCCP took their second round thanks to two kills a piece from dosia and starix. The next two went the Eastern Europeans' way also to make it 7:3 to KSU. KSU took three in a row to make it 10:4. The 12th saw three kills from musamban1 and glow winning a 1v1 against dosia at upper. The final round of the half had KSU 3v2 after two kills from solo but when the round got into a 2v1 they weren't able to close the deal and the half ended 10:5.

Second half

Losing the pistol would have been disasterous for CCCP, not least because the rifles of KSU looked on. They didn't have to worry about that though as three kills from Zeus saw them winning the round. Up 3:0 they dropped a round as solo won a 1v2. The next three went to CCCP to make it 6:1 and 11:11 overall. The 7th had n0thing 2v1 with the bomb planted upper. He attempted the 'glow spam' onto the bomb defuser and killed him but then was taken out in the 1v1 and CCCP defused.

KSU took the 8th as solo was 1v2 with the bomb planted upper and came up the right vent to kill the defuser and delay it long enough that the bomb exploded. hooch had made a bad decision by staying in the rafters instead of coming down and covering his team-mate, though he may have suspected solo would come out of the hut instead. CCCP got the score up to 8:2 to make it 13:12 overall and secure them the lead for the first time in the match. The next two saw the Eastern Europeans hit map point, but it was not to be as KSU got the last three and forced overtime.

Overtimes

Two overtimes saw dosia and starix step forwards from CCCP and continually put kills on the board to keep giving the Eastern Europeans chances to win. They were at map point in the 6th round of the first overtime but lost it to force the second. In the second they managed a flawless CT half and despite giving up the first in the second half got there the next round.

Arbalet AllStar Teams A 16:11 Arbalet AllStar Teams B (inferno 10:5 6:6)

Considering how well a number of the KSU players had been playing on nuke, and the scoreline, one might have expected this series to go to three maps but it was not to be. CCCP put up their own big first half and then finished things up before they got into any kind of danger to take the series.

Team A will now play Team D in the final Saturday at 16:00 CET.
