EG's newest recruit Ediz "goodfornothing" Basol talks about his team's group play, their first round matchup in the playoffs and his integration into the team.Ediz 'goodfornothing' Basol is playing his first international tournament for Evil Geniuses , having come from their rivals Turmoil with whom he lost in the first round of the WCG to Millenium. The new recruit talked to SK-gaming about his team's DreamHack so far and the possibility of a rematch with that French team.
How strong has your group been in comparison to the way it looked to you on paper?
Since this was our first tournament together, I couldn't tell if we were just playing very well or if some of the teams were weaker than I expected, but I was definitely happy about our margins of victory.
How can you compare your experience playing in this team so far with your time in Turmoil/Gravitas?
This team is definitely more motivated and disciplined. I think with Turmoil we got a little too obsessed with trying to play like Europeans rather than creating our own play style that works, and used to make American teams more successful.
What are you thoughts on a first round matchup against TitaNs who scored some single map upsets with their old lineup at IEM IV Chengdu?
We've been bootcamping at IOS and even though I just joined the team I'm confident that well be able to come out with a win. Hopefully we play as well against them as we played against wooSai.
How confident are you coL will win their group?
I think coL should definitely win their group, no question. If they don't, it will definitely mean they choked.
The way the brackets are set right now you'd face the winner of wooSai-Millenium in the next round and then could potentially face SK Gaming or mTw.dk in the semi-finals, so what do you think of the way your side of the bracket looks in terms of getting a high placing?
I think our side of the bracket might make it easier to get top four, and it's definitely going to be nice to get a chance to get some revenge against Millenium, but if we're at the semis every team left is going to be really tough.
How has the setup of EG changed in terms of integrating you into the lineup? Are you playing Warden's spots for now or have other players switched? Provide an example.
On our CT sides they definitely put me in spots that I was comfortable with and switched some other players around, but I think mainly on our T sides I took over most of Wardino's roles. As far as specific examples, I hate playing the inner bombsite on train so I forced Tomi to find out how to play it so I could play outside :).
EG.US will face TitaNs tomorrow in the first round of bracket play.
