PvP titles coming back in Cataclysm

ImageBlizzard today let it be known that PvP rank titles will be returning in the next expansion.

It is already well known that rated battlegrounds will be introduced in the Cataclysm expansion. But to coincide with that, Blizzard today announced the return of PvP titles. Although it comes with the usual "subject to change" disclaimer, thew blue post confirmed that "we plan to make the old PvP titles available based on your performance in our upcoming rated Battleground[s]."

The push for towards battlegrounds is gathering momentum, after the recent announcement of battlegrounds giving arena points in future. But the nostalgia factor will definitely be kicked up a notch with the ability to claim a Grand Marshal or High Warlord title.

Specifics are thin on the ground at this stage, however. "I don't believe it's been decided yet whether they'll be purchased with Arena points or Honor points," said Zarhym. She also wondered if "specific Battleground rating is the only requirement to unlock them." It was also made clear that this is still a very early development stage for the expansion so this will remain unclear for some time.

Thankfully, though, the blue poster did let it be known that the ridiculous grind of the old system will be replaced by a more skill-based one. "It's going to require a very impressive win/loss ratio," said Zarhym. "We do not intend for the top titles to be earned in a trivial manner."
