Power Gaming miss DreamHack due to flu

ImageThe Finnish Power Gaming will not be at DreamHack Winter due to one of their key players contracting the H1N1 flu virus. It remains to be seen if this will affect their WEM attendance.

Finland's Power Gaming will not be attending the upcoming DreamHack Winter event due to Niko 'naSu' Kovanen being ill with the H1N1 virus.

Explaining how the organization became aware of the problem Power Gaming's manager Ben Woodward told HLTV.org:

"Over the past 5 days we've wondered where naSu has been, as the public may of noticed we've used a stand-in in our last 2 Extreme Masters games in place of him. He came online last night to inform us he's been ill with the H1N1 virus that's seen him stuck in bed with a 40c temperature; he’s currently on medication and recovering"

With the World Esports Masters set to take place from the 12th of December Woodward also addressed concerns the Finnish team would miss that event too due to the illness:

"In light of this news we’ll unfortunately be skipping Dreamhack winter, our participation at next month's WEM tournament hangs in the balance, we may need to take a stand-in to the event, this will be decided over the coming days. Niko is making a good recovery but is far from fit enough to travel."

Power Gaming may have been eliminated in 5th-8th place at the WCG but their match against gold medalists AGAiN saw them take the Poles to the absolute limit, up 11:4 in the first half of the third map thus forcing an epic comeback by the now two time gold medalists.

naSu has been a key element of every top Finnish team for the past four years. As a member of Wings he helped them shock the world in winning the European WEG season 3 qualifier. When the team became hoorai the core of naSu, his brother lurppis and toNppa joined up with Astralis talent ruuit and contE to form a team which would take a 2nd at WSVG UK and a bronze at WCG 2006. Replacing toNppa with natu the Finnish team now known as 69N-28E, and later Roccat, won NGL-One finals and WSVG Louisville.

Later, under the Roccat and GamePlay names, naSu's team took 3rd at IEM II LA, 4th at ESWC Masters and 3rd at IEM III Dubai. It was naSu's decision to leave Crack Clan following their dismissal of his brother which saw the balance of power shift in the Finnish scene as he began rootz with natu which later became the new Crack Clan and then Power Gaming, where he is reunited with ruuit, plastE and tihOp from his GamePlay days.
