Dreamhack has announced a new sponsor alongside details of upcoming WoW tournament at DH Winter.Dreamhack Winter is now just over a week away and the organisation has released more information about the World of Warcraft event. An open tournament of 16 or 32 teams (depending on signups) will be played first in a group-based format. This will take place on the opening two days - Thursday 26 and Friday 27. The top two teams from each group qualify for double elimination brackets. The grand final will be played on Saturday 28 in the DreamArena stadium.
Only two teams have been confirmed so far. Both of them are unknown Swedish sides although 'explore my dungeon plx' did win Dreamhack Sweden. DH Summer champions, Ensidia have been invited but have not yet confirmed. Since they recently dropped from the Ensidia sponsorship their attendance is still up in the air.
In related news, Dreamhack has also announced a new partnership with hotel company Scandic. Although a somewhat unusual sponsor for a gaming event, Scandic will be granting the winning team free nights at any one of their 139 hotels; a pretty useful prize for any esports team these days. On top of that, the winning team take home $4,094 USD in prize money.
Registration for the open tournament is still open. Teams that fancy their chances can apply by heading over to the official site.
