Last week Thursday the fifth race of the running ESL Sports Touring Car Championship took place on the beautiful track of Surfers Paradise in Australia.
Our four SK Racing guys were able to score good results and now reached the top of the ranking! In the 30 minutes long qualifying session Hendrik 'b0nd' von Eye was able to drive an spectecular time and got the pole position. Christoph 'DreaF' Hörenbaum also got a very good qualifying and placed 6th. Just Danny 'HuskY' Engels was at a position for this race where normally nobody would expect him. He just qualified 10th but his goal in this race was to finish in the midfield to reduce his penalty weights on the car for his previous top-positions in the first four races.
Hendrik 'b0nd' von Eye was able to defend his lead in the beginning but had to make space for other guys because he did some little mistakes on the track which cost him a lot of time. All in all Hendrik was able to drive home 4th place in Race 1 and 5th place in Race 2. Danny 'HuskY' Engels had to make his way through the field from 10th position which worked very well for him. He was able to go up to 5th position in Race 1 and could lead the field for a long time in Race 2. At the end it was a very good 3rd place for him. Christoph 'DreaF' Hörenbaum also showed a very good perfomance in his race. He was able to finish 6th in Race 1 and felt back with a damaged car to 8th in Race 2 though.
SK Gaming is leading the constructor championship with a very big adavantage compared to his opponents. But the most important thing is that Danny 'HuskY' Engels took the 1st place in the overall ranking in front of Hendrik 'b0nd' von Eye on 2nd. Sebastian Schmalenbach from SB Motorsport is on 3rd place. Right behind him is our third SK-pilot Christoph 'DreaF' Hörenbaum on 4th Position.
Carsten 'KiLl3r' Hörenbaum who joined the eTC 2009 later in the season was able to win the race in Grid 2 and now moved up to Grid 1 to help his teammates in the remaining three races.
