Vortix wins the forgotten Zotac Cup

ImageVortix won the latest installment of Zotac by defeating Remind in the final.

In the middle of all the WCG fever this weekend the regular online cups went on almost unnoticed. Juan 'VortiX' Moreno Durán took advantage of a somewhat reduced playing field and won Zotac Cup #112. By doing so, he has become the first undead player to win the cup since Hjalmar 'DowaQ' Högberg in #79 over six months ago. It's just a shame for Vortix that hardly anyone was paying attention to his landmark victory until after it happened.

The Spaniard met Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim in the final - the most successful Zotac player of all time. Although Remind had already overcome one undead in the semi-final, he could only manage two maps in the best-of-five final. With 12 Zotac wins already under his belt it must have felt like unlucky 13 for the nightelf player.

Another noteworthy point is that this is the second tournament this weekend to be won by a non-orc player. In fact, Vortix's semi-final victory over Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom is arguably more important than winning the final itself. With orc vs undead being widely regarded as the most imbalanced matchup in the game, a 2-0 win over Focus is hugely impressive.
