SK Europe has made it to the second stage of MLG Anaheim thanks to a mirror match victory over BHMS.It was a close run thing, but SK Gaming EUROPE has narrowly made it into the knockout stage of MLG Anaheim. After a so-so Saturday, SK managed to end up with a positive win/loss ratio today and qualified for stage two with a 4-3 record.
The Europeans had to win their last game of the group in order to guarantee third place. But they need not have worried, as they dropped just one game in the series. A dominant 4-1 win in the shadowcleave mirror should give the team a big confidence boost going into the most important phase of the tournament. However, they will have to face the Korean team that already beat them in the first round.
Elsewhere, SK Gaming USA had a disappointing tournament. The American squad managed just one victory against compLexity Red. The fact that they lost every game by just one map will be some consolation to the team but on a better day they could have turned those 2-3's into 3-2's.
In the battle of the 100% records, the beastcleave of CheckSix emerged victorious over the Korean RMP. Button Bashers still managed to finish second and are currently 1-0 up in their final game. Their opponents in the final game of the group stage are and they desperately need a win for any chance of making the playoffs. A 4-1 win would qualify them but as I write this they just went 2-0 down, eliminating them from the tournament.
Qualified teams:
CheckSix
Button Bashers
SK Gaming EUROPE
compLexity BHMS
