Gaming addicts can now join a twelve-step program along with drug and gambling addicts at Broadway Lodge in the UK.The Telegraph is reporting the opening of a "computer rehab clinic" in the United Kingdom. Broadway Lodge, a rehabilitation unit in Weston-super-Mare, which treats around 400 addicts of drugs (including alcohol) and gambling yearly is now adapting its twelve-step programme for gaming addicts.
These addicts undergo group therapy and therapeutic tasks, such as vacuuming or washing up, as well as recreational activities in an attempt to reestablish communication with their peers and gain a larger understanding of themselves.
Regarding the problem the report states:
Apparently the centre recently treated a 23 year old who was spending "up to eight hours at a time at his computer".
Says Brian Dudley, the centre's chief executive:
Mr Dudley also offers this analysis of online gaming in general:
Meanwhile Peter Smith, a counsellor at the lodge, seems even more bold with his claims:

Regarding the problem the report states:
"Therapists say the surge in popularity of web-based "fantasy world" games such as World of Warcraft has triggered a wave of addiction among adults and children.
Suffers spend days at a time glued to their computer screens - going without food, sleep, or any social interaction.
As a result they suffer malnutrition, relationship breakdown and postural problems.
The wave of addiction is apparently triggered by more sophisticated online games where players have to invest significant amounts of time to progress"

Says Brian Dudley, the centre's chief executive:
"He had eating issues, he wasn't eating properly. He did very well. He has the mechanisms now to cope with it."
Mr Dudley also offers this analysis of online gaming in general:
"I would stick my neck out and say between five and ten per cent of parents or partners would say they know of someone addicted to an online game.
However, you can't simply say to a 23-year-old male 'you should never use the internet again'. It's just not practical.
So we go through all the issues surrounding gaming use and ensure there are triggers through which an addict recognises their usage has become a problem"

Meanwhile Peter Smith, a counsellor at the lodge, seems even more bold with his claims:
"It's not unusual for people to get so obsessed with online gaming that they forget to eat and drift towards an anorexic and undernourished state," he said.
You can play online with people around the world, so it can be at odd times of the day - when it's 5pm in Chicago or evening in Japan.
You have a relationship with characters in the game that give you an artificial feeling, created by your body's natural endorphins, when you have killed some monster or solved a problem."

killer yourself auhauahuaa
computer games can be a problem, for example I have lessons every day in the morning but I get to play conter strike until 4 in the morning and one vice that I can ruin my future but I can not avoid playing so late I end up missing my classes we have to distinguish the personal lives of video games
I can easily go for weeks/months without a PC at all :)
And yeah, I had an MX310 too, haha good old days :D
But the thing is why don't you stop playing a third of hours there is in a day and find other stuff to do that doesn't involve computers?
this is good for some wow addicts ^^
