Founder of The CPL Angel Munoz has been interviewed by LGN and addresses the new CPL, whether he will make a return to esports events and his salary while running The CPL.LGN have tracked down the infamous Angel Munoz, subject of one of yesterday's news posts, for a written interview with the man who founded The CPL and ran it for so many years. Angel talks about the games he is currently playing and gives his thoughts on the new CPL.
Regarding the new owners of The CPL:
Whether or not he would run a big esports event again given the chance:

Regarding the new owners of The CPL:
"The original plan was for me to be on the Board of Directors and for my company (NewWorld.com) to retain a 10% interest in the new CPL, but that did not work out. So now that CPL has moved its main operations to Asia, I will no longer retain my board chair or have any interest in the CPL. The new CPL has excellent management, advisors and partners, and honestly no longer need me to agree or disagree with their plans."
Whether or not he would run a big esports event again given the chance:
"No. I’m not interested in putting myself at the center of such huge controversies ever again. My two years of semi-solitude have taught me that other things in life are vastly more important. My legacy, although somewhat tarnished by the critics, cannot be erased. Good or bad I’ve made my contribution, now it’s up to others to improve and innovate in eSports."
Speaking on rumours Angel made millions from The CPL over the years:
"The truth is that I received a low six-figure salary for my work as CEO of the CPL's parent company, and did not receive any additional compensation for my work at the CPL. I certainly did not make millions during my eleven years of working at the CPL. Maybe people just don't realize how expensive it was to run the CPL. Our payroll was well over $1,000,000 a year, and add prizes, taxes, employee benefits, attorney fees, event production, promotions, operational expenses, etc. and we were running at a marginal profit and sometimes at a loss."

Welcome to business.
And Zechs you need to think before you post, he is saying he didn't make a million a year like people are saying he did. If he made 1 million dollars over 11 years thats cool.. alot of people do make that amount of money. But to say 1 million = millions is stupid.. learn to plural!
"I certainly did not make millions during my eleven years of working at the CPL"
11 x 100,000 = 1,100,000. Assuming that he had the lowest six-figure salary possible, that's still over a million. This guy is like a compulsive liar or what?
You're actually defending the guy that fucked-over more CS players than i anyone else i can think of or you're just so pathetic that you look for any reason to flame me? That's a rhetorical question btw.
Who would want to flame you? Don't we all just love your contributions to this website? That's a rhetorical question btw.
I think that's what the trolls refer to as a self-own. Four replies to me in one newspost, just to point out a MINOR error, which isn't even an error. Not to mention guestbook messages and previous newsposts you've mindlessly flamed me on for no real reason. It's always some minor, petty little thing, which reeks to me of obsession. But anyway, we'll leave it here before i get as bad as you.
Oh, and let's not forget, the last time you flamed me was because of my picture. So not only are you insecure about people who have different opinions to you, you're apparently insecure about your sexuality as well? I don't know why my picture would offend you so deeply otherwise.
If you promise prize money, it is YOU who is paying it, not your sponsors. If a football club promises to pay a player and their sponsor goes bust, do they just not pay their players for a few weeks or months?
Whatever he or the CPL or his employees did for esports is tainted as so much price money was not paid out which actually impacts the players personal finances quite a lot. I almost forgot how much it was just for me, I assume about 40.000$ of team winnings when the dollar was actually worth a bit more - that's just from CPL.
LOL so it s a WoW thing too? I thought the guy knew WoW and liked to think of himself as a scene insider when it came to WC3 or CS or Quake. But he doesn't even have a decent WoW knowledge? rofl, tbh the worst part of him is that the more people try to point out his *huge* lack of knowledge, the more he thinks everybody is wrong except him. There is no salvation for such people anyways...
give their money back, it's not an excuse
We all loved CPL, we all hate Angel Muñoz, is simple...
I miss the fun / glory days where people played more for fun...
Without Angel, E-Sports would not be where it is (Excluding Europe's Scene).
Without Angel, eSports would have come to the attention of the western world a little later, but it would have inevitably come and perhaps in a better light had those who brought it not made the same choices as theCPL with regards their payments and their games to be played.
