fnatic's in-game leader, Patrik "cArn" Sattermon, has given an interview to his team's website where he talks about the upcoming WCG, his team's desire to win it and his potential retirement from gaming. In an interview on his team's website Patrik 'cArn' Sättermon of fnatic once more addressed the idea that he will be retiring at the end of 2009 and moving on from professional gaming.
His answer to the topic was:
Regarding the importance of winning the WCG gold medal, something the fnatic captain has never accomplished, cArn said:
On whether or not fnatic's skill level has hit a ceiling or whether it can improve still:
With fnatic coming off a victory in Dubai and their low point in a major tournament, since their ran began, being their 2nd in Chengdu all signs would point to this being the year fnatic can finally accomplish their WCG dream. Were he to win a WCG gold medal cArn would leave CS in the company of some of the all time great Swedish players who accomplished that feat, a list which is only 5 names long: HeatoN, Potti, ahl, fisker and SpawN.
Despite all their successes fnatic have only qualified for the WCG once, in 2007, and they were eliminated in the group stage in Seattle after their victory against eSTRO was overturned due to some very shady admin decisions.

His answer to the topic was:
"I have stated that it´s likely, but not certain that this will happen. This is something I don’t really care or need to be open about to anyone except Fnatic and my teammates. Our main goal now is to win WCG and finish 2009 in a great manner, in respect to our fans and sponsors."
Regarding the importance of winning the WCG gold medal, something the fnatic captain has never accomplished, cArn said:
"Winning the WCG has been a goal ever since I started dreaming of becoming a pro-gamer. And now after a couple of years on the road in Fnatic, with many titles in luggage, what could be better than adding the missing trophy?"
On whether or not fnatic's skill level has hit a ceiling or whether it can improve still:
"If we wouldn´t think we could do better, what´s then the reason of playing? I think throughout my time in Fnatic we have found ourselves ranked #1 in the world the majority of this time span, but still continuing claiming titles. The day you stop practicing or finding motivation you should rather quit playing and find new obstacles in your life to climb."
