After two games in the group stage fnatic seemed like they were heading out of this Dubai tournament, now they're heading to the final as strong favourites to win yet another major CS event. Not only did fnatic win their matchup against SK Gaming but by the exact same scorelines as MYM had beaten Vitriolic by earlier. fnatic's flair for the dramatic is still fully alive as they vanquish their biggest Swedish rivals in a rematch of the Chengdu final.

fnatic 16:1 SK Gaming (train 14:1, 2:0)

When fnatic are good they are very very good and many teams have had to learn this over the years. This was a map where they seemingly had everything going right as they defended areas, rotated at the right times and got the kills needed to prevent SK getting any kind of momentum. SK are known to have a strong CT side but losing the pistol after being down 1:14 meant they had no opportunity to show that and fnatic went up 1 map to 0.

fnatic 16:5 SK Gaming (nuke 13:2, 3:3)

Starting as terrorists fnatic once again took control of the map and had SK on the back foot. With the score at 8:3 for fnatic SK were able to get a little action going their way and take two straight rounds but then fnatic showed their clutch side to win the remaining two. In a 1v3 with the bomb planted dsn killed the defusing CT, the CT above him at rafters and then the last who rushed the squeaky door area. The next round cArn killed the final two SK players who were coming at him lower, with walle missing famas bursts which appeared right on the fnatic captain. The score ended 10:5 fnatic as they swapped to CT.

fnatic won the pistol and the next eco to put themselves right back into the driver's seat with all the momentum. On the 3rd round they very effectively defended an upper rush from SK as they rotated f0rest in to take out SK pushers at the opportune time. After losing the next eco and being down 0:4 SK called a timeout and face restarted his machine. Any hopes that would turn things around proved in vain though as fnatic took the final two rounds they needed and the map and the game. In the final round f0rest decimated any SK attack with three big kills to end the game.

fnatic have now almost completed the fnatic transformation we've seen before where they turn from a team potentially going to be upset and eliminated in the group stage into the one who can dominate even elite level opponents on the way to winning an event. The only team who stand in their way are a hungry but inexperienced Swedish team they've seen before. If MYM really want to prove themselves they've gotten their wish because they're now facing one of the best units to ever play CS in the final of a major events in the same year that team has won countless events already.

The final is scheduled to be played at 17:15 CET. Before that SK will face Vitriolic in the 3rd place playoff at 14:30 CET.
