Relive the 2004 which saw natu's Destination Skyline emerge as one of the elite CS teams in the world and put Finnish CS back on the map with a 4th at CPL Summer.Finland has always been a country with some of the best raw Counter-Strike talent but also some of the most erratic LAN results to go alongside it. In 2004 a Destination Skyline (D-Sky) lineup emerged who were able to win a number of small events and at their peak placed 4th at the CPL Summer event. One of the centrepieces of that team was Joona "natu" Leppanen and he shared his experiences and memories of the team in this edition of the 'Classic teams' feature.
Find out the back story to Coali coming out of relative obscurity to become perhaps Finland's best player in 2004. Hear the reasoning behind the moves which saw the classic lineup eventually broken apart towards the end of the year. These and other stories, including key matchups from throughout the year, go under the microscope in this frank and open interview which clocks in at 49 minutes.
D-Sky 2004 lineup:
Markus "Tico" Kivipuro
Joona "natu" Leppanen
Benjamin "diGitaL" Hilden
Niko "coali" Nilsson
Antti "alfa" Nikkanen
To put a twist on the feature I conducted this as an audio interview with natu in Finland. Adding some pictures of the relevant topics and people being discussed you can now view and listen to the entire thing below:
