ImageGermany's second best team, Alternate, and 2009's team of the year, fnatic, are next on the invite list for the Extreme Masters Global Challenge Dubai this October.

The march towards the Extreme Masters Global Challenge Dubai goes on and the next two teams to join the field are Germany's Team ALTERNATE and Sweden's fnatic . They will compete along with the other teams at the event in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, which will be held from the 17th-24th October.

Alternate began 2009 strong by shocking many in reaching the finals of the EM III European championship where they lost narrowly in an overtime game on train to mTw.dk. At the Global finals they were less successful, placing 5th-6th, and from there on out returned to their less spectacular form of the last year or so. A 5th-8th at Kode5 and an appalling 13th-16th at GameGune, losing to the Spanish Unibet and the French oXmoze, have been their only international results since. In mooN they have one of the finest Counter-Strike minds in German CS and in roman one of the most skilled players but their mix of strategy and skill has yet to flourish the way it did at the European finals or back in 2006 when they led Alternate (then called aTTaX) to a WSVG finals win.

fnatic have been the team of the year in 2009 thusfar, as everyone must be aware. They won the EM III Global finals, Kode5, ESWC Cheonan, e-Stars Seoul and the Swedish WCG spot. This consistent dominance puts them up there with 2008's mTw.dk, 2003's SK.swe and 2001's NiP as one of the most dominant Counter-Strike teams to ever play the game. Since then the road has been more bumpy for fnatic as they were beaten by Mouz at the Supercup in Germany and at the Global Challenge Chengdu lost in the final to SK-gaming, after also losing earlier in an upset at the hands of China's TyLoo.
