ImageThe champions of EM Dubai in 2008, Mousesports, will be returning to the place which sparked their revival as a top team. They will be joined by the fan favourite underdog side k23 who will look to once again show up some of the bigger names.

The next two names to be announced for the Extreme Masters Global Challenge Dubai are those of the reigning champions, Mousesports , and the underdog side from Kazakhstan, k23 . The event will take from place from the 17th-24th of October with 10 international teams (four of which have now been announced) being joined by two local qualifiers from Dubai.

Mousesports overcame a sloppy start to the year to finally put themselves in a position where teams were considering them one of the 2-3 elite squads out there. A 3rd at ESWC Cheonan was a good start but a victory at GameGune over the ex-Wicked team and then wins over fnatic and mTw.dk at the SuperCup really made the point clear. gob b even seemed to think in an interview with fragster that his team were a step above everyone except fnatic. Last week was not good for Mouz though as a loss to wNv.cn in the group stage at the Global Challenge Chengdu could maybe have been passed off as not wanting to try too hard to finish 1st with fnatic sitting in a 2nd spot in a group.

Any such considerations went out the window though when Mouz found themselves upset in a 0-2 loss to China's TyLoo in what were admittedly close games, but games Mouz were expected to win all the same. Mouz player Tixo was even seen refusing to shake the hands of the Chinese players as they headed along their handshake line after the game.

k23 continued their usual form of putting up a couple of good performances but not really doing a whole lot in terms of placings. In their group stage game against Korea's WeMade Fox in Chengdu they were able to go up 9-6 on their CT side before the Koreans rallied to tie the game on their own CT side. The Kazakhstanis put up a better performance at e-Stars Seoul this year where they tied WeMade Fox again, this time on train. They also lost a narrow 14-16 game to mTw.dk on inferno and scored a huge win over SK on dust2.
