Despite a huge error from the WCG organisers, Longwalk defeated Sonkie in the American WCG qualifier to claim the country's only spot at this year's finals.A mistake from WCG had many sites listing Nikolaus 'SonKiE' Cassidy as the winner of WCG USA. But sources on the WCR Forums have made it clear that it was actually Phil 'LongWalk' Crawford who came out on top in the qualifier. He claims the USA's only spot for WC3 and a cheque for $2,500 USD.
Replays of the tournament are scarce so details of the games are difficult to find. However, one thing we do know is that Crawford overcame two human players on his way to victory, having beaten Nick 'HolyHuman' Pesu in the semi-final.
Longwalk will now look to build on his Blizzcon performance where he was eliminated in the first round of the lower bracket by Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán. Despite being considered the best American player for some time, he has yet to bridge the gap between America and the rest of the world. A confidence-boosting win in this weekend's qualifier may spur him on but as he stated in this interview on Youtube, it will depend a lot on his group at the world finals.

Stop the hate !
YEAH BRO, guitar hero for life... pff pathetic ass nation. Half of the wcg games are actually a joke nowadays, and americans participate mainly in them for the simple reason that they know they have no other options.
i hope he can improve in the future and find a new team as fast as possible
