Are you a talented article writer/interviewer with a good knowledge of competitive Wc3? Do you want access to the biggest audience and to be paid for your skills? Apply within.SK-gaming is looking for one new WarCraft III writer to help usher in a new era of coverage for the popular RTS title here at the site.
Now you've no doubt seen recruitment posts on gaming websites before and they typically have a modified Uncle Sam/Lord Kitchener poster with the famous 'I WANT YOU' on it. Those posts are also usually looking for people to come in at the bottom level of an esports organization and do the grunt work for little to no pay and essentially be a slave until they work their way up or are no longer useful. This is not one of those cases. We're NOT looking for just anyone, for most people we DON'T want YOU. What we want is someone talented, dedicated and capable of earning their pay cheque. If that doesn't sound like you then don't bother sending in your application.
Here is the situation put as directly as possible, to avoid any confusion.
What we want:
-Someone who can create their own unique content for WarCraft III, this would mean articles and/or interviews with top players.
-Someone who is dedicated and can devote a reasonable amount of time to the job to ensure they deliver the quantity and quality we desire.
-Someone who is knowledgable about the scene. If you're going to write for us you need to know what you're talking about and that needs to be an on-going process which means you keep up to date.
-Someone who can help our coverage of events. That is to say you know enough about the players and the games that you can write up previews of big matches, give basic analysis after the fact in writeups and so on. This area of the job may also require staying up late for events in certain timezones.
-Someone who doesn't waste our or their time. If you want the job for the SK tag or the minor celebrity associated with it then you're not for us. We're looking for people who are already motivated and dedicated to this kind of work. If you work for another website which already covers WC3 then great, take your talent to the big leagues and get paid what you deserve for it instead of pushing a boulder up a hill every day for next to no reward like some kind of Sisyphean nightmare.
What you get:
-Access to the biggest Western esports audience. There's no boast to that claim, we have the numbers plain and simple. If you are capable of high quality work then why not put it in front of the biggest, widest and most diverse audience possible so it can get the feedback it deserves and affect as many people as possible?
-Money, moolah, scrillah, the loot, the bread shipped to Fred. Respect and encouragement are great and we dole out our fair share of each on worthy employees but there is one currency which remains king and that's cold hard cash. If you work for SK then your performance will dictate your rewards and those rewards are higher than those for 99% of the WC3 writers reading this right now who are currently employed.
-The opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself. If you have talent and dedication then chances are you can do a lot, relatively speaking, within your own circles. People may appreciate your work or respect your opinion etc etc. Now imagine if you were part of a crew which also shared the qualities which make you excel. Now everyone's work elevates everyone else's and we all improve the esports community as a whole. Why work against each other when we can work together and everyone wins?
-A chance to improve your skillset. No matter who you are there is always something you can tweak and something you can improve. It's not just a case of working on your strengths, you need to pay attention to your weaknesses also. By joining SK you get access to an editor who is directly interested in your skillset and how it can be developed. Whether this means proofreading for you, giving you direct feedback on how to improve your work or answering any questions you might have on the writing process.
So if you've gotten through all of the above and you know you deserve a spot on the SK-gaming crew, can deliver the WarCraft III coverage we need and want to be a part of something which is only going to get bigger then send your application in to jobs@sk-gaming.com.
Once again, applications from any of our 'rivals' are fully welcomed and entirely encouraged.
Include the following:
-Full name
-Alias
-Age
-Location
-Esports history
-Writing history (incl. sites, role there and time period spent)
-A basic overview of why you want the job
-A basic overview of what you're capable of doing for SK
