EMS announced it's fifth season a while ago, one of the announced games was Quake Live TDM, a choice that quickly got criticized. In an article Fragster asks several players and personalities within the quake community for their opinion on this decision and the place of TDM in today's competitive scene. The announcement that the fifth season of the EMS would include Quake Live 4v4 TDM was heavily criticized, with many claiming that it was a bad choice due to the poor selection of maps available for the game mode. ESL quickly reacted to the criticism by considering other game modes and opening a poll to gather feedback from the community.
Following up on this Fragster in an article asks several pro gamers and profiles of the Quake Live community about their opinion on the choice of 4v4 TDM as game mode for the tournament. James '2GD' Harding, former player of Fnatic and currently commentator at ESL had a lot to say on the topic, with a short excerpt following.

"CTF is working. ESL can add it and it will continue to work. Quake TDM was the best, it was so awesome in barrysworld and Clanbase eurocup. But where did it all go? Well I'll tell you, TDM lost it's prestige, so it lost it's players. Why didn't CTF? Well CTF didn't need its prestige as much. I think it had a more casual fun factor to it. TDM was gritty hardcore quake. It was fucking brilliant at the high level and yes it pretty much died. So in my opinion, EMS is taking a risk on TDM but it's the right decision. Why? Well, TDM needs to be stable and right now it's not, that's why it's so fucking risky. Players are everywhere right now, no real teams even exist. Think how many teams have asked fox to play with them. Think how many top TDM'ers can't pick teams or won't return to TDM just skipping it completely."

TDM isn't that a bad choice imo, CTF has already some competitions, and, like it's said, TDM is a part of Quake, whatever ppl think, and it deserves its place on the scene.
I used to only play CS back then and I still thought the Q3 part of the video was better. Also some old school finnish CS fans might enjoy the legendary eco frags by zet0r :P
