Stoke City F.C. bond over online "war games"

ImageThe Observer is reporting that Premiership side Stoke City play online "war games" together such as Gears of War and Call of Duty in their spare time.

According to an article published today on The Observer's website some of the professional footballers of Stoke City, who currently sit 5th in the Premier League's standings with 7 points, have been bonding over online "war games".

Right winger Liam Lawrence, who currently remains scoreless in his 4 appearances this season, said:

"We regularly play war games online at night... It sounds stupid but we communicate just like we do on the pitch. We talk online at night in exactly the same way. Even the old ones get involved, it's a good laugh and something to do when you have to stay in at night and be good."

Despite not directly addressing gaming the team's manager, Richard "Tony" Pulis, explained:

"The great thing is our lads all socialise together... They have group nights out, we involve everybody in absolutely everything and it all carries over on to the pitch."

With its talk of "war games", "fierce jousting" and "military-style strategy" the article has a rather quaint but amusing perspective on online gaming to say the least.
