The faction change system that has been in the works for the past couple of months has finally gone live on US realms. The date of the European launch has yet to be announced. The 'customisability' of World of Warcraft took a step up today, as paid faction changes were rolled out on American realms this evening. The price is $30 (around €21) and transfers are given a 60 day cooldown. However, players will be able to choose the specific race when they transfer faction, according to the FAQ. But characters can only be transferred to a race that supports their class; no bloodelf warriors or dwarf shamans just yet.
Blizzard also confirmed another upcoming change which many WoW players were expecting. "Based on further community feedback, we have also decided to offer a race change service in the future," said Nethaera on the official forum. Further details of the race change service will be announced at a later date.
The FAQ makes it clear that all gear, items and gold will remain with the character, with the exception of faction-specific objects. These will be exchanged for your new faction's equivalent. For example, level 60 twinks will have their Marshal's items swapped for High Warlord's.

Yes. Characters possessing too much gold for their designated level bracket will not be eligible for a Faction Change. Please use the following table as reference.
Level 70 to 80: 20000 gold
/cry! whyyyyyy?
Guess what, a little bit later u might even change ur class... cuz when a class gets nerfed or something else every1 (specially kids) is crying about and maybe they even quit the game cuz of that... and quitting means less money for blizz.
Imo, if u want to play something else than just go 1-80 again. Its harder but u respect the charr u've made.
Btw, I quitted wow long ago.
:/ tauren paladin, doh :@
or just accept it and stay in your ''old faction'':P

Here we go: it is not coming today, tomorrow or this week, or probably next. However, plans can change though, but this reply should give you a much better idea of when it is probably coming and should help you to better plan in advance, should you wish to do so.

So doubt it was expected to come today =)
