ImageFormer 4k legend, Yoan Merlo has announced his return to the pro-gaming scene. He will represent the French organisation, Millenium at the WCG qualifier.

Yoan 'ToD' Merlo will participate in the upcoming pre-qualifier for WCG France he announced today. The news comes from an interview with his new team, Millenium .

In a brief interview (in French), Merlo told Millenium's website that he WCG would be a one-off event. "I'm not coming back for competitive gaming in particular," he said. "WCG is soon [...] so I thought, why not qualify myself for this tournament?" However, he did admit that he will take part in some small local LANs. The prospect of seeing ToD line-up alongside the likes of Bora 'PsYkO' Kim is an appealing one to French fans but the ex-4kings man made it clear that he is not stepping out of retirement. "I'll stay in France," he said. "If i win the pre-qualifications this weekend, I'll train a minimum for WCG.fr."

However, previous WCGs have not been to the Frenchman. After a second place back in 2006, he never managed to break into the top four again. Never the less, he has never failed to qualify for the grand finals. Whether his vast experience will help him shake off the rust will be key to his performance in the pre-qualifiers. But the 2008 WGT champion will have it tough after nearly nine months out of the limelight.
