In two exciting matches, fnatic and H2k Gaming managed to take down their opponents and qualify for the World Cyber Games 2009 in Chengdu, China. The Grand Final will be played as only the first placed team gets all expenses paid. Both matches went into overtime and three maps showing how close they were but the biggest surprise clearly is, SK Gaming were not able to qualify for the World Cyber Games this year. Fnatic met Begrip which went into overtime on the first map already even though Begrip were up with 15-10 but did not get the needed final round and lost the map.
They were then however able to win the second map in a close 16-14 win forcing the third and deciding map. Fnatic sealed the deal then with a 16-12 win on de_nuke and qualify for the World Cyber Games 2009.
On the other side H2k Gaming played SK Gaming with a dominant first half on the first map but SK made a short comeback in the second half yet being unable to get enough rounds losing with 12-16. The second map was more in favor of SK being the dominating team here winning with 16-9.
The third and deciding map was de_dust2 where H2k Gaming started their run leading up with 11-4 after the first half and even though they lost the pistol on the second half, they managed to win the eco round right after. This put SK in a bad position being down with 5-14 but they started another comeback forcing the overtime in this match.
The last map went into two intense and exciting overtimes which had several dominating players for their teams such as Robert 'RobbaN' Dahlström or Niklas 'niko' Johansson. H2k Gaming then defeated SK and qualify for the World Cyber Games as the second Swedish team.
The Grand Final will still be played as only the first placed team gets travel and accommodation paid while the second placed team have to pay themselves.
