Following the success of Tyloo at the eStars2009, the Chinese Counter-strike community has been blessed with a new league that could re-ignite a scene that has fallen behind. It is several years since the success of wNv at the WEG Masters, and since then China has failed to compete in Counter-Strike 1.6 on an international level. Due to the lack of international presence its popularity as an eSports game in China has also dwindled, in particular following the success of Chinese Warcraft3 players and the invasion of Defence of the Ancients in Chinese LANs accross the country.
The new league entitled the CCSL, which is hosted by one of the largest gaming portals in China, PCGames.cn - their first attempt to organise something of its kind - will be played out completely online with a prize purse of 1,700 euros. Despite the meagre purse in comparison to other major domestic leagues such as the EPS, the league could play a pivotal role in developing Chinese counter-strike talent.
TyLoo , wNv Teamwork CN and wNv Teamwork GM are among the teams down to compete, and the most experienced in the Chinese scene at the moment. More information about the tournament and its competitors can be found here and here.
Prize Purse
10000 RMB (1,000 euros approx)
5000 RMB (500 euros approx)
3000 RMB (200 euros approx)
