Several World of Warcraft sites, along with large media sites such as IGN are reporting rumours circulating about the next expansion pack, supposedly called "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm".The first and most justified segment of the recent Cataclysm rumours is the new subject of two playable races. These come from the skins from this year's Halloween masks, which feature the goblins and incidentally, the worgen, who have remained behind the scenes as of yet in Blizzard's MMORPG.
Some other interesting rumours circulating include the speculation of re-shaping Azeroth’s three present continents. The title “Cataclysm” could refer to reminiscing about the Great Sundering in WoW lore, which included fighting the Naga in the Maelstrom. However, another fine piece of speculation is that the continents in the present day Azeroth became partially-submerged due to a recent event, some figure to be the result of the Lich King’s defeat at the end of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
However, this is all simply based upon a rumour and we will not know for sure until the opening ceremony at BlizzCon 2009 on August 21st.
Alliance - Worgen: A race of seemingly-brutal werewolf-inspired humanoids who often remain neutral-hostile towards outsiders. In Wrath of the Lich King, the worgen tend to ally with the Scourge, due to the leadership Arthas holds over their racial leader.
Horde – Goblins: A race that throughout World of Warcraft lore that has remained neutral in the petty differences between the Alliance and the Horde. However, as seen in many instances through Warcraft history, the goblins have provided many well-needed and strategic resources that have assured the Horde of tactically-masterful victories.
