ImageESportsFrance confirms rumours that the ESWC brand has been bought up by a French organisation, as well as unearthing that it only cost just over 50,000 euros to buy.

ESportsFrance confirms rumours spread by Team-aAa earlier today that Stéphane Cosse, the head of DIP Communication and DIP Organisation - an indoor and outdoor event organiser - has purchased the ESWC brand for just over 50,000 euros.

For that 50,000 euros the Frenchman and his organisation inherit not only the Electronic Sports World Cup brand but also the corresponding websites www.eswc.com and www.esworldcup.com. Furthermore, Cosse paid an additional 1,500 euros to acquire cyberleagues.fr, a famous url in France in recent years, and the platform for the French national qualifiers in the past.

However, all is not plain sailing as EsportsFrance also discovered that Cosse was one of the lead figures in Adéclik, the company behind the ClickArena event back in 2003. CLickArena had a $50,000 cash purse but like the CyberXGames the prize money was a hoax and none of the participating teams - which included SK Gaming and 3D - received their prizes once the competition was over.

eSportsFrance has an exclusive interview with the new owner of the ESWC which they will publish later today.
