This weekend the increasingly famous event of Gamegune will take place in Bilbao, Spain. Many teams with incredible potential will participate for a chance to grab some money, a total of 22500 euros. We look a little closer at some of the teams with potential, including their recent paths, to try and determine their chances.Top teams such as Team ALTERNATE , WICKED eSports and mousesports will be participating this weekend for a chance to grab the first place and 12 000 euros. Other uprising teams such as DTS and Team Dignitas will be there to give the favorites a good run for their money.
The games themselves will be played in a group double bracket, with eight groups consisting of four teams each; making it a total of 32 teams participating. The top two teams of each groups will then pass to the next stage. Lets have a little closer look at some of the more lickely teams to take the win and determine their chances.
DTS
Although not one of the favorites, DTS.Chatrix has shown some promising results lately, for example at DreamHack where they beat Crack Clan 16-5, also in the DTS.cup where they beat Virtus pro quite easily with 16-5. Both of those teams now also participating at GameGune. It is surprising results like these which should make the favorites weary of the of the Ukranians' skills and certainly not underestimate them.
Team Dignitas
The British 1.6 scene generally hasn't been very popular since CS:S took over. Although being the underdogs, the new roster of Dignitas is hungry for wins. The word goes around that they have been training very hard for this event. Can Suffian 'Suffz' Arshad help carry the team to at least a decent standing? Or will the English 1.6 failure repeat itself?
Crack Clan
Crack Clan is one of Finlands finest after recently winning the IOL Season 3 this year and reaching third place the KODE5 Regionals. However, they showed a disappointing performance at DreamHack where they didn't pass the group stages even though having a relatively easy group. However, Crack Clan remains one of the favorites with expectations of them at least making it through the playoffs.
The Germans
Four German teams will be present at Gamegune: ESC Gaming de, TBH.eSports , mousesports and Team ALTERNATE . Alternate had shown an exceptional improvement recently, most famously winning the KODE5 2009 German Regional Final, however, losing against mousesports in the ESL Pro Series Season XIV Finals. Mousesports however performed badly at KODE5 but showed their form at the ESL. Both teams have also been bootcamping in order to prepare for the event. No favorite can be decided between those two teams who consistently compete between each other and show both of their faces, good and bad.
The French
Also figuring in the list of participants, four French teams: eSport-eu ,emuLate , dRu and Millenium . Although none of teams are really considered favorites to win, they could still be seen as a high threat. All four teams have been playing exceptionally well in the French scene and certainly don't lack in skill but more in consistency which always seems to be the problem for any French team. If any one of the French teams were to put their best foot forward, this will definitely result in them ending in the playoffs, and with motivation high up, perhaps cause a few upsets or surprises.
WICKED eSports
Probably the biggest favorite to win this, the Polish ex-MYM team, Wicked eSports, certainly haven't had it easy, and this is no exception. Wicked weren't even sure to attend the event after having troubles with its organisation and travel methods.
The team had a hard time finding a home after being ditched by MYM, and now seem to have trouble with their new home. Will these troubles outside the game distract them from their in-game performance? The ideal would be for them to be trouble-free and completely concentrate in game and bring back the wins to Poland, something which perhaps would also bring back their motivation and will. However, a rough-ride recently may have demotivated them and may show in the performance. All in all, fans are awaiting a triumphant comeback as they certainly do have the potential.
Indeed, most, if not all of these teams have a potential of taking the win, this is where their motivation, training and perseverance will make the difference between a win or a loss. The final itself will be held on Saturday the 25th of July around 7 p.m. Here is the full list of the 32 teams participating:

DUZT ESTOU CONTIGO PAH!
2nd - bussiFuori
3rd - phantoMs
k1ck > wicked, alternate, SK, fnatic TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as dafunk says, how could you put esport-eu instead of Millenium in the pool ?
Millenium beats EG and DTS at Dreamhack summer. emL was used to be such a strong team in the past especially against german and finnish teams, and the line up is still the same, despite their last issues, if they are in a good day & shape they can beat anybody.
(We speak about a team who would be probably/maybe both WCG & ESWC champion without a fuckin keyboard fail ... )
btw so sad that the event begin a thursday, will be hard to watch the game @work :D
But I am confident that Virtus.pro can all surprise !
and GO SEVEN! will be nice to see them back playing again on lan:D
