Quake Live dominates QuakeCon
New information has come to our attention regarding the QuakeCon, that will be hosted between the 13th to 16th of August, 2009. The prize pool for QuakeCon is $50,000 pure money with over 200 top professional and upcoming players to play against each others over these three days.

New information has come to our attention regarding the QuakeCon, that will be hosted between the 13th to 16th of August, 2009. The prize pool for QuakeCon is $50,000 pure money with over 200 top professional and upcoming players to play against each others over these three days.Everything that goes on in the event will be shoutcasted by djWHEAT and TosspoT where you'll be able to enjoy, and take in all the excitement that happens in the tournaments. djWHEAT and TosspoT will also offer interviews and great deal of expert analysis.
Todd Hollenshead, president, id software gave a statement:
Three different Quake Live tournaments will be held at QuakeCon, "Quake Live Masters Championship", will hold 64 of the world's best Quake Live players that face-off for over $25,000 in a double elimination bracket, and all matches will consists of a best of three game format, while the final which will be held Saturday night, on the main stage, to battle it out in single elimination, best of five games, where the champion will win $14,000.
The second tournament is the "Quake Live open Tournament", which will be available for all amateurs, with max 128 players, the prize purse here will be $2,500 and $1,500 for the Champion. This will have a single elimination bracket, but with a best-of-three game format.
Last, but not least,the "Quake Live Capture the flag Championship" tournament, sponsored by id software, 32 teams will battle it out in a single elimination 4on4, and best of three games. Those who come out on top will share a amount of $22,000, and including $12,000 for the team of Champions.

waiting to ear some great names :D
One question though - the QuakeLive Championships will be played in double elimination, however the finals in single elimination ... how is that possible? I mean, there's gotta be someone advancing from the lowerbracket to the finals and hence that player should have a disadvantage compared to the one coming from the upperbracket? Hum... =)
