Major Quake Live update

ImageFinally, the update everyone has been waiting for has arrived after a couple of hours of maintainance and a promise a bigger update, have they succeeded, or have they left anything out?

One of the major questions that had been in hot air for a couple of months now, are Private servers, have they added it to the new update? Here follows a statement from id software:

"Select organizations can now launch private servers directly from the QUAKE LIVE website for use in their online leagues and tournaments. These private servers include extensive competition features such as calling timeouts, locking teams, aborting matches and designating match referees. Players may view private servers by going to 'Customize' on their match browser and selecting 'Show Private Matches'. Private servers are passworded, so you will need to contact your league administrators for information on how to participate in their activities and join their private servers."

They've also made several changes in the code such as calling timeout, locking teams and allowing referees, which will help when they're in a middle of a match in major competitions, but the biggest concern is, that, only private servers have this feature.

Another issue people have been having is problem with is the game stuttering, which can obviously be very annoying, here follows a short statement about it:

"While the player is in-game various features on the website will go into "sleep mode" in order to reduce the amount of resources used. This change is to help certain players who were having problems with the game stuttering while playing due to website activity."

Over 35 new fixes in the codes and web changes has been issued, if you want to read more click here.
