Following public polls on websites across the world the final six nominees for the eSports Player of the Year Award have been decided. The public polls were held "on the biggest and most prestigious eSports pages of all six regions," and for many SK Gaming users you helped contribute with over 8,000 of you casting your votes.
There were in total six public polls, each based on a specific region of the world, with players from various eSports disciplines making the list of regional nominations. The final six players will be put under the microscope by the ESL Award Academy, a group of allegedly the most well known faces in eSports, who will decide the winner.
For the Northern Europe poll Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund finished 1st with team-mate Patrik 'cArn' Sättermon and SK Gaming's Jimmy 'allen' Allen the runners-up. Western Europe saw Roman 'roman' Ausserdorfer lead the way followed by WCG gold medalist Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and Antonio 'cyx' Daniloski. Eastern Europe winner was Filip 'NEO' Kubski from WICKED eSports who already won the award in 2007 with runners-up team-mate Wiktor 'TaZ' Wojtas and Craciun 'BeBe' Victor.
Korea had its own poll with Starcraft superstars like Jae Dong 'Jaedong' Lee and Taek Yong 'Bisu' Kim among the nominees, but it was Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang, the WCG silver medalist who won the Korean poll, with Sung Jae 'bail' Lee and WC3L winner Chul Woo 'Shy' Park the runners-up.
The Chinese poll held no surprises as Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li finished in poll position with Xiang 'TH000' Huang and Bin 'savage' Liu next in line. Finally Jordan 'n0thing' Gilbert of Team EG took first in the American poll with Bruno 'bit' Lima and Tom "TSquared" Taylor the other favourites.
