First details regarding the most anticipated national WCG qualifier for Counter-Strike 1.6, WCG Sweden, are now known to the public. The Swedish WCG qualifiers will be held from 13th-15th August but with slots for only eight participants. Four teams will received direct invites to the Qualifier, meanwhile the four other places will be awarded to the winners of the pre-qualifiers.
The format for WCG Sweden will be single elimination best-of-3 to add more pressure to an already tense national qualifier. The first place finisher will have their travel expenses to China completely covered, while the second place finisher will have to fund their own travel.b This is a change in format from last year where the eight teams were divided into two groups, with the top two then progressing to a single elimination playoffs.
The Swedish qualifiers always hold a shock as SK Gaming missed WCG 2007 after losing to NiP in the qualifiers and last year fnatic also missed their chance when Lag Blank beat them 2-0 in the first round of the playoffs.
Both Fnatic and SK Gaming will be in action at eStars in Korea a few weeks before hand which will give a better indication into whether the fnatic "holiday" will have any affect on their almost flawless performance so far in 2009.

Its nice that two teams can get through now but single elimination can be very dangerous so the teams will have to come with their best format!
