From the English World of Warcraft website, Blizzard poster Nethaera has revealed that due to popular request, players will have the chance to change factions on their realms.Players have changed their characters' realms. Players have changed their characters' appearances. Now, a long-awaited feature is being implemented for near-future use that involves switching to the opposing factions, bringing along all the attributes from before. This has been a highly-requested feature for years now and finally Blizzard has answered the wild call. Revealing this is Blizzard's very own Nethaera.
Nethaera:
From Nethaera's post, we can expect to see this feature implemented predominantly, soon.

Nethaera:
"We wanted to give everyone a very early heads-up that, in response to player requests, we’re developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we’re pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it.
As with all of the features and services we offer, we intend to incorporate the faction-change service in a way that won’t disrupt the gameplay experience on the realms, and there will be some rules involved with when and how the service can be used. The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service, but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out. We’ll go into much more detail on all of this here at http://www.WorldofWarcraft.com as development progresses. In the meantime, we wanted to let you know that because this type of functionality requires extensive internal testing well in advance of release, you may be seeing bits and pieces of the service in the test builds we use for the public test realms moving forward."

Sorry dude, but the days where I never spoke a word to many of my real life friends and played WoW 24/7 were, sadly, some of the best moments of my life and have led me to even better things including connections around the world and money through competition. It seemed the more I didn't talk to my friends and kept playing WoW, the more they suddenly wanted to play, got interested, and were curious how to start. This happened right as Naxx 40 Man was coming to an end and TBC was going to come out; we all know how that went.
Besides, this game wasn't found on the basis of, "Let me tell all my friends and be social." It was found on, "I'm bored", "I need to escape reality", a lot of inside jokes, nostalgia from WarCraft 2/3, and helping the other people that wanted to escape their life be it from boredom, no friends, free time, etc.
WoW was fun when it wasn't this ****ing casual, when the communities were tight, big name movie makers were still around, and the content was actually challenging AND fun.
On a side note, people who had kids, wives, good jobs, and tons of friends would rather sit and play on a computer alongside me for 8 hours a day regardless of if there was content up or farming needed to be done. Now you can roll through a new instance in about two days, farm all of it within 2 hours, and be given free epics no matter your skill level.
All the hardcore people want is a Vanilla WoW server; just one. Instead, you have the few underground private Vanilla WoW servers with 700+ people on it getting high off Nostalgia.
Hardcore Super Gankers? Did you EVER ****ING participate in a TM/SS raid back in the day? Picture AV x 100 in the open world where nearly everyone has access to, the word HK: popping up every 3 seconds, tons of lag, people on vent having a good time; I mean s**t. If you want to label me as the 60 that went around ganking lowbies in my Tier 3 thinking I'm a boss, go ahead; I can't change your opinion. I'm all about fair play and fun not e-peen stroking and playing recycled AQ40 Encounters (Yogg) and Naxx since it was so good back in the day.
Kids these days...
Every Update make me feel a bit sceptic like the change of sex (male or female ) in wow ...
Saying that I would use it as I got a few chars I would like as Alliance
You have so much to learn and no time in which to learn it. If only you started a year earlier =D
you were the hero of the realm when u had some t2 parts and 1 ore 2 epics,
but now every noob is full epic, and nothing is special anymore :S
A lot of opportunists will pick the side with the majority of players to get WG more often or because they think with more ppl it will be easier to find a raid etc.
PvP players will probably use the service to get the right breed and we will end up with only RMPs where only the names are different in the end. ;)
"Activi$ion Blizzard"
Soon it will be Battlegroup Servers (which I really wouldn't be surprised if this happens).
10:0, "omg, i can now whisper ensidia!!!1!:D"
