GWI: Moon breaks Lyn resistance to advance

ImageJae Ho 'Moon' Jang confirmed his appearance in the knockout phase of GomTV World Invitational thanks to a crucial 2-0 victory over compatriot June 'Lyn' Park.

Only a 2-0 defeat of Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang for June 'Lyn' Park today would suffice to possibly grind out a tiebreaker with his group opponents as he lied at the bottom of Group B towards the end of group stage.

He also had to count on fellow Orc player Manuel 'GrubbY' Schenkhuizen to defeat Xuwen 'InFi' Wang after the interval, but Moon’s successful trademark mass expansion tactic already saw off his hope early in the first set.

The WeMade FOX player started the game at Melting Valley with Beast Master and produced massive huntresses to continuously harass Lyn’s main base, while building expansions all over the place.

However the SK Gaming player attempted to pull down his counterpart’s expansions and build his own, Moon made a couple of brilliant moves to turn down this idea, and his constant harassment dealt too much damage to Lyn’s main base that left him little choice but to surrender.

The following game at Ancient Isles looked bright for Lyn when he beautifully killed Moon’s heroes several times, but he went on to execute an unorthodox tactic by summoning Tinker and Tauren Chieftain as second and third hero coupled with wyverns and shamen.

It eventually backfired him and the 22-year-old is knocked out of the competition without registering a single win. In the meantime, the victory steered Moon into the semi-finals, but his position remains uncertain as another match between Grubby and infi is postponed.

The Dutch international could advance as group winner should he not lose to infi by 0-2 thanks to a superior set difference, whereas a 2-0 win is the only option left for the Chinese Human player following his defeat to Moon last round.
