World Elite have signed Shenghui 'Future' Li from domestic rival Colorful while they bid farewell to coach Sen 'DuCui' Cui and the academy player Yong 'Hovermoon' Wang.Shenghui 'Future' Li, tipped to be one of the hottest prospects in China, has been delivering solid performance in recent months not only in domestic tournaments, but on international stage as well.
Despite his former team Colorful relegated from WC3L following an uninspiring season, the 19-year-old showed glimpse of his strength as he defeated Most Valuable Player Award nominees Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom and Chul Woo 'Shy' Park as well as his new team-mate Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng that earned him nomination of Rookie of the Season.
The Orc player was linked with a move to World Elite in early April should he qualify for the national preliminaries of this year’s World Cyber Games, but shortly before World Elite manager Le 'King' Pei denied the claim.
However, King revealed the former Colorful player has already been training with them as early as this February in the official unveiling, “He already trained with us after Chinese new year actually and he played for Colorful in the meantime. I denied the report then because I didn’t say he would join WE when he qualified for the national finals of WCG.”
World Elite is the only remaining club that keeps a sizeable WC3 team nowadays, while heavyweights mTw, Meet Your Makers and SK Gaming all downsized their massive teams due to the economic downturn.
King, who has led World Elite to winning numbers of silverware, said the Chinese giant holds a different vision to the foreign clubs, “WE always bear in n mind the development of eSports in China when making their decisions. We want to develop young players in China and not let their potential be wasted.
“We are not living for the WC3L. It is only one of a couple of dozen tournaments that we are participating in during a year. We share different visions to many American and European clubs so we won’t change our scheme based on a change of rules of one tournament.
“Future is very young and hard working. He has a future should his potential fully develop. I hope he will succeed the tradition of World Elite and become world champion in the future.”
Long serving member Sen 'DuCui' Cui and the academy player Yong 'Hovermoon' Wang left the team in the meantime for undisclosed reason, whereas Xuwen 'InFi' Wang has extended his contract with World Elite to quash rumour of him being on the brink of leaving the world champions. The former KODE5 and two-time IEF winner once expressed his desire to quit the game and claimed to train none to five games daily in recent months.
