MLG: SK just three maps from glory

ImageAfter an almost flawless MLG tournament, SK US is just three games away from winning its first event.

SK Gaming is just one match away from $9,000 USD after they dominated the RMP counter-comp of eMazing Gaming in the upper bracket final.

eMg had gone through the round-robin without a loss until they ran into Ryan 'Realz' Masterson's team. The teams met again in the upper bracket final but eMg hadn't learned anything from the first encounter. SK came out with another comfortable looking 3-1 win, although the individual games were a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

The hunter/pal/dk team earned a third shot at SK by beating Ensidia in the lower bracket final. The Britons will have to make do with third place and $2,250 USD, despite being touted as one of the favourites to win the entire tournament.

With two victories already over eMg, SK goes into the final as favourites. An aggregate score of 6-2 looks hard to argue with and the RMP has another advantage. MLG's bracket system means that the final will be best-of-11. However, because SK already defeated eMg earlier in the bracket, they start with a 3-1 advantage. That means that SK needs just three maps while eMg has to win five.
