After months of hot air and nonsense, it seems that a ban on violent video games could become reality.Computer games in Germany have never had a great relationship with politicians but it has gotten much worse since the horrific school shooting in March. A lot of political points-scoring ensued, including calls for outright bans on violent games.
It all seemed a little bit removed from reality, but now Gamezine is reporting that politicians have reached an agreement to that effect. The ban would effect any game "where the main part is to realistically play the killing of people or other cruel or unhuman acts of violence against humans or manlike characters."
This would have a huge effect on gaming in general but esports could potentially take an even bigger hit. With Germany being the capital of esports in Europe, a ban on violent games like CS would cause huge damage to our young sport.
The law still has to go through parliament, and would be effective before the elections in September.

failing goverment.
Are they gonna ban violent tv programs?violent movies?violent books?violent internet webpages??
I hope that they will find an other solution.
I mean, just writing that down nearly made me laugh out loud and the ridiculousness of the whole thing.
Hello my fellow countrymen, we are raising the taxes once again, BUT WE R BANNING BROOTAL GAMES LOLOL B HAPPI.
AMAGAWD I PLAYED CS, arrgggg now im skitsifrenic (grabs his handgun and heads to closest school)
the whole purpose in games(I think) is that they allow you to do stuff you cannot do in real life(well most basically) - be a superhero, a dwarven sniper or a terrorist.
i've played CS since 2002 and thinking about it now - i've become less aggressive since i started playing it, does it have something to do with the stress relief that comes from fragging... ?
violent movies have a bigger effect on me as well - after watching green street i was well up for a fight
another thing that i think should be mentioned (maybe a bit out of order) for the school shootings that were linked with CS - if the shooter was "taught" on cs why did he not bunnyhop, wallbang, russian walk etc...? answer is easy - they couldnt as CS is not THAT realistic.
what about games like America's army? designed by the army themselves to teach everyone the art of combat - shouldn't stuff like that be banned?
Why? Well... even if they get through to the right people with their "LETS BAN VIOLENT VIDEOGAMES" thing, there are 3 problems they didnt think about!
#1 - They have to bring in a bill, which means, they have to get it through as a law (which will not happen)!
#2 - It needs a majority of people who really are against "violent videogames" - This will not happen!
#3 - If it does (which it wont) it has to be reconcilable with the basic law!
