ESWC Open Game 2009 announced

ImageChinese Esports Open Game committee merged with China’s ESWC organiser as they introduced Electronic Sports World Cup Open Game 2009.

The EOG committee on Sunday announced the brand new competition which runs from 13 June to 7 August. With approximately €30,900 involved, the ESWC Open Game 2009 will hold preliminary tournaments for DotA and Warcraft III in June and July before the Grand Final takes place 1-7 August in industrial city Ma’anshan, China.

The EOG, which has primary focus on Chinese market, will not only hold preliminary tournaments in eight selected cities in China, but a general online preliminary tournament for the country as well.

A separated Warcraft III qualifying tournament for South Korea, which grants two finalists a place in the Grand Final apiece, will take place this weekend. 16 players will go through the same procedure as traditional ESWC Global Final except the playoffs is double elimination.

SK Gaming players June 'Lyn' Park and Jin Wook 'Rohjinwook' Roh will take part in the star-cluttered preliminary. MichaeL is in Group A alongside Dae Hui 'FoV' Cho of Mousesports, Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn of Giants, and Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim, whereas Lyn is in Group D together with Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee of nGize, Du Seop 'WhO' Chang of mTw, and Seo Woo 'ReiGn' Kang. "EOG 2009 is designed to enhance players' experience of major tournaments, to produce a feast of entertainment for Esport fans, to spread knowledge and idea of Esport, to establish a commercial platform for related businesses and to promote continuous and harmonious development of Esport industry via domestic as well as international competitions."
