ImageJune 'Lyn' Park of SK Gaming is set to defend his title at BlizzCon 2009 this August after he beat his former team-mate Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim in the Korea Regional Finals today.

In the one-month Korea Regional Finals, top two performers last term Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee and June 'Lyn' Park battle with top six finishers in the invitational ladder of Kalimdor gateway for three berths in the Global Finals of Blizzard Warcraft III 2009 Tournament at BlizzCon 2009 in Anaheim, California between 21-22 August.

After knocking Giants’ latest signing Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn down to lower bracket yesterday with a 2-1 first round win yesterday, Lyn faced his old mate in SK Gaming, Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim in the upper bracket semi-finals. The Night elf player, who plays under nickname “PheoNix_aNeLca”, beat WC3L Most Valuable Player Award winner Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom earlier in the competition.

Lyn took the lead through a win at Melting Valley. But his over-aggressive harassment in the early stage of the second game led to the death of his blade master, and with a barely level 2 blade master he couldn’t withdraw his counterpart’s storming tower rush.

However, his tactic to constantly harass elf’s main base paid off in the final game at Echo Isles. By successfully kept ReMinD’s heroes staying in his base, Lyn perfectly protected his own one and levelled his TC up without a hitch before building an expansion. When ReMinD pushed Lyn’s expansion with his merely 40 food army, he found himself couldn’t kill a single unit of Lyn before he only had DH left.

Elsewhere, Chul Woo 'Shy' Park of WICKED eSports landed another place at BlizzCon after a 2-0 win over Check of nGize in another tie in upper bracket. Check, ReMinD, Seo Woo 'ReiGn' Kang and SocceR will compete for the last available spot in their region next month.
