The first-ever Blizzard Entertainment fansite summit has concluded. Now reports of a "very powerful" map editor that will dwarf the Warcraft III world editor are coming in.Blizzard Entertainment's Chinese representatives have now confirmed that the near-future beta will feature the StarCraft II map editor for the winners of the beta opt-ins. However, it will reportedly be limited in single player content, due to possible spoilers in regards to the game storyline. Also, a Battle.net account will of course be required and a separate ladder will be for the beta participants.
According to the Chinese representatives, the hardware required will have to be exceptional and up-to-par. These include a dual processor, two gigabytes of RAM and a NVIDIA 9800 graphics card for high-quality gameplay.
While sources have confirmed that the map editor is a reality and the system specifications are true, it remains tentative when the map editor will be released. Blizzard's RTS Community Manager Stefanie "Xordiah" Gwinner noted that the release of the editor may not be in the same proximity of the beta release. In all probability, it will be added in the median range between the release of the beta and the actual game.

EAZY, makes my chances of getting into the beta even better
Defence of the Zerg.
But I still believe creating maps can be a lot of fun, possibly even more fun then actually playing the game.
Just being creative and seeing people play your own map, must be an awesome experience.
We’ve not confirmed anything about the inclusion of map editor in the beta yet. And we don’t have system specs yet either, and any specifics about system specs going around are 100% speculation at this point.
I'd like to point out that the beta opt-in is not a contest, and that everyone will get accepted into the beta eventually. The beta opt-in will work just like the WoTLK one, where they send invites out in batches every now and then. I hate that people interpret the beta opt-in as some sort of dice-roll contest.
idiots are on the other side please
