Following the announcement of Blizzard 2009 Tournament North America and Europe Regional Finals earlier this week, the Korean contenders are poised to fight for their places in BlizzCon this August. While the regional finals of North America and Europe will be held in the same location for the first time in recent years in Cologne, Germany between 26 and 28 June, the Nightelf-cluttered Korea regional finals will take place in Seoul, South Korea that runs from 28 May through to 19 June.
As usual, the tournament is made up of a double elimination playoffs and the players play three games against each other. SK Gaming player June 'Lyn' Park, finished second in the regional finals last term, will meet Giants’ latest signing Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn. He will encounter the winner from another tie between Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom and Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim should he proceed to the next round victoriously.
The only player that is not a Night elf player in the upper half bracket is former SK Gaming player Seo Woo 'ReiGn' Kang as he lock horns with WICKED eSports’ captain Chul Woo 'Shy' Park. Winner of last regional finals, Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee will have to enter into arguably his worst match-up in the first round against Jin Woo 'WinNers' Kim.
GOMTV will be showing live coverage of selected games in the competition. More information is available in our BlizzCon 2009 Korea Regional Finals coverage.
