ImagemTw's Leon 'TastyLeon' Hoge became the unexpected winner in the worldwide voting for Team West in the upcoming Continental Cup of e-Stars Seoul 2009 alongside fellow Germans Dennis 'HasuObs' Schneider and Daniel 'XlorD' Spenst.

The selection of the Continental Cup of e-Stars Seoul 2009 comprises of fan vote, candidate’s achievements in 2008 and 2009, and e-Stars committee’s evaluation. While candidate’s achievements and committee’s evaluation compose 20 percent and 30 percent respectively of the final selection, the fan vote accounts for as much as 50 percent.

The fan vote, ran from 20th last month through to 17 May, saw surprising winners at the top of the player vote for Team West. The German trio received over 20,000 votes apiece, while Team EG duo Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin trailed behind with barely 11,038 and 8,162 points. The newly crowned ESWC Asia Masters of Cheonan winner Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán settled for the sixth place with 7,602 points.

The player vote for Team East panned out with little surprise as Chinese players dominated the competition. World Elite’s Human player Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li finished first in the voting for the second consecutive season with 12,666 points, not even close to half of TastyLeon’s total 28,345 points, and Mousesports’ Human maverick Xiang 'TH000' Huang and WeMade FOX’s Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang followed closely behind.

Representative of Team East last term, June 'Lyn' Park failed to collect enough points to help push him into top five identical to the situation last year, but the SK Gaming player is still hopeful to play his part in e-Stars with his astonishing achievements in recent years. The final list of attendees will be released on 2 June.
