ImageIn response to high levels of demand from the Quake Live community, the ESL has announced their first Quake Live Clan Arena tournament.

The tournament will be comprised of 24 teams divided into four groups. After the group stage, a double elimination playoff bracket will be implemented to close out the event. As of yet no specific date has been announced for the tournament to commence, the "end of may" is all the information currently available.

Registration for the event opens today and closes less than a week from now, on the 17th of May.

ESL statement:

"Time for some Rocketjump action!
After a nice start with the ESL Quake Live 1on1 Spring League, it is time to push the Clanarena community. We are going to present you the first Clanarena Competition for Quake Live! The Clanarena gametype is nearly the same like RocketArena3 and should be known by all former Q3:Arena players. You are interested? Just have a look inside this news!"

Here is a short explanation provided by ESL:

"Red vs. Blue last man standing. Everyone starts with all weapons and an increased amount of health and armor. When one team frags all players from the other team they are awarded 1 point for the round, then a new round begins. The first team to win 10 rounds claims victory."

The maps are the following:
qzca1 - Asylum
qzca2 - Trinity
qzdm6 - Campgrounds
qzdm14 - Lost World
qztourney6 - Almost Lost
qztourney7 - Furious Heights

Visit the ESL website to register for the event or find out more.
