Mouz.Gore: "I think group stages are unnecessary"
Franz "Gore" Burghardt talked prior to the commencement of the KODE5 Global Finals about Cheonan, the time between ESWC and KODE5 and the upcoming Global Finals.
"Usually in a groupstage there is only one strong opponent," Franz 'gore' Burghardt told Fragster.de, I think group stages are actually unnecessary. However, I would prefer to have a double-elimination bo3, because that way it is absolutely certain that the best team won."
Mousesports face wNv in the first round but could face WICKED in the second, and fnatic - who defeated the in the upper bracket in Cheonan - in the third. However, gore wants to face fnatic. "Fnatic played super strong and have a great line-up, but I want to show them we have what it takes," said Gore.
Gore also spoke of what happened in the previous encounter between the two teams at ESWC Masters of Cheonan. "On the first map we were clearly inferior," said gore, "that was something we knew before that nuke was one of our worst maps. On inferno unfortunately we made two silly mistakes as CT that cost us the game."
The team are also recovering from a messy travel schedule caused by their visit to Korea. "We were in Seoul on Wednesday and spent the night there. On the following day we went directly to Germany and then continued our journey the next day to Moscow. The jet lag has hit us and is still a pain in the neck."

Mousesports took third at ESWC Masters of Cheonan, beating alchemists Unleashed in the consolation final, after losing to fnatic in the single-elimination bracket. However, with KODE5 going straight into playoff matches there is no much margin for error."Usually in a groupstage there is only one strong opponent," Franz 'gore' Burghardt told Fragster.de, I think group stages are actually unnecessary. Of course group stages with WICKED, SK and Fnatic in the same group is useless and stupid. Group stages are still the place to shine for the "lower skilled" teams.
Anyway he is right with DE BO3, but groupstages are needed for the weeker teams to improve their game, and not just attend an event for 1 round, where they are raped by highly seeded teams. Groupstage is essential for surprises and upsets, which form the brackets more interesting.
Isn't it Franz? ;o)
He is wrong.
total agree
Yes wnv is better than mouz !!
